Design:
·
Upright growing plants should
generally be placed at the top or sides of the wall, planted at an angle so
when the wall is vertical, the plants aren’t growing at a 90o angle
out of the wall.
·
Trailing plants should be
planted at the top or the bottom of the green wall so that they effectively
trail or droop down the wall.
·
Spreading plants can be placed
anywhere. It is recommended that they be placed in the center or on the sides
of the green wall so they spread quickly.
Care:
·
Be aware of pests such as;
white fly, aphids, and spider mite.
·
Watering should be done every
couple of days, or when the soil is completely dry.
·
Lightly mist the wall with a
spray bottle once a week.
·
Fertilize the wall every two
weeks, or as instructed on the packaging. It is recommended that a
water-soluble fertilizer be used.
·
Allow the green wall to grow
together on a flat surface for up to six weeks before mounting.
·
Place the green wall somewhere
it will get plenty of light, approximately 6-7 hours of direct sun daily.
·
Ensure the green wall is in a
warm environment; avoid placing next to windows with drafts.
·
Repotting may be required after
a year or two.
o
The green wall plants can be
divided and re planted in another frame or individual pots.
o The entire green wall can be transplanted in a larger green wall
frame.
